About Classic Fish Art

Artist Peter C. Thompson is an artist of classical training earning MFA from Boston Museum School of the Fine Arts. This Fine Arts training coupled with his Bacheolors in Art Education from Tufts University gives him the unique ability to create highly detailed, realistic illustrations that a reminders of traditional biology text books and sporting guides.  

Our Mission

Mr. Thompson created the definitive modern book on the subject of fish: Freshwater Game Fish of North America an Illustrated Guide. This landmark book is a magnificently illustrated volume that will help anglers, scientists, and nature lovers to identify and appreciate North American freshwater game fish.

The detailed and life-like illustrations that showcase gender color variations for each species, Thompson provides information about fish biology, behavior, and habitats. As a connsumate educator, common and scientific names are provided, as are range maps and information about each fish family's global habitat, physical traits, diet, significance to humans, and present status regarding its potential endangerment.

At nearly 150 pages, the book is a reference for sportsmen, educators, naturalists, and biologists as a field guide or an artbook on a coffee table. 

Bringing The Book to Life

When we saw the drawings we didn't want them to be bound to the pages of a book, we envisioned the art in homes, offices, lodges, game centers, hotels and inns. These gorgeous fish need to live in the world and be appreciated.

Classic Fish Art was born, bringing the finest, classic illustrations of game fish to nature lovers everywhere.
